Xbox 360 Dashboard update
This morning I turned on my Xbox to find an update waiting for me. Since I recently signed up for Xbox Live Preview and apparently was accepted (not sure if all were or if I am one of a select few) I now have the latest dashboard update.
At the moment I do not have a Twitter or Facebook account as they were deleted a couple weeks ago due to me being sick of social networking. I will sign back up just for this preview to see if it is any more useful to me in a matter of a few minutes but first thing is first… last.fm.
I waited to sign up for a last.fm account to see how easy it was using the Xbox 360’s on screen keyboard. It is very simple just as it would be online as long as you can navigate quickly with the controller. I had my new account setup and had found a station to listen to within a minute. I recommend sticking with your gamer tag as your username if you do not already have a last.fm account so you’re not struggling to create a new username. Unless your gamer tag is “John” or “Jane” you shouldn’t have any trouble. Once you’ve created your account you can instantly login and start listening. The first station I chose was Nine Inch Nails. A short advertisement for last.fm played and then the music along with a slideshow of pictures began. 2 songs in I decided to switch stations and found that pressing B will not stop the music so you can continue listening while browsing for your next bit of audio enjoyment. I next chose the “video game Tag Radio” Gamer Station. Another short ad this time for Brutal Legend played and it was on to the Donkey Kong song Wintermute.
I think this add-on is awesome. This coupled with the Netflix add-on I have completes all that is needed to make this an all-in-one media station. I am declaring the last.fm add-on for the Xbox 360 total WIN! I am off now to check out what else is new and will report back for a full review.
